Our Mission

As a school community our mission is to accept ownership for all students’ learning by challenging our students to reach their academic potential in a climate that fosters cooperation, emotional support, and personal growth.

History

Dardenne Elementary opened in 1987. The building was expanded in 1989 and again in 1991 to serve a rapidly growing O’Fallon population. During the early 1990s Dardenne served over 900 students. Peggy Barratt served as the first principal of Dardenne Elementary. Today, Dardenne Elementary serves over 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We have nearly 80 staff members. 72% of our 45 certified staff members have advanced degrees. Our classroom teacher to student ratio is 17:1 and our professional staff average more than 12 years of experience. Most of our students live west of Highway K and near Feise Road. We are a Title I school and we also host a district special education program in our building to help meet the educational needs of children in O’Fallon. Our mascot is the Knights and our colors are Royal Blue and Silver.
